Day 2- 01/07/2020

Waking up this morning I was excited about what this day was going to bring. We headed over to go on a tour of Google this morning. We couldn't get into the video piece of Google (Youtube), but we did get to tour with a nice woman named Joanna Fogt. She gave us our tour of the different parts associated with Google.

The company seemed very friendly and a genuine place to work. I learned that they care for their employees and want them to feel as comfortable as possible. They have the ability to go outside of their normal work environments and not only do their needed work but they can also work on their self beings as well. Google gives great benefits to its employees such as giving them places to eat with various food options for free and a place to go if they need physical therapy. They also have plenty of things to get them to stay active as well. I thought it was very cool that they had treadmills in some of the conference pods where they can be walking during their meetings, and that they also had trails and other amenities for their employees like basketball courts, swimming pools, workout areas, soccer fields, and even had a putting green as well. So even though this physically did not connect to the broadcasting side, it still was there to show its benefits and what YouTube could potentially offer to someone of this major.

After we got done with our Google tour, we headed over the Playstation headquarters. This was a very interesting place for what we saw. It was kind of sad that we didn't get to see everything there because they were working on a project but I'm excited to see what comes our way. Overall the studios were absolutely amazing! They were very big and had a ton of equipment. I loved how calm and open the space was. It was cool to see how a lot of the stuff was behind glass so we were able to still see everything, it felt as though they had nothing to hide, and their workspace was very personal. The work inside the studios was amazing as well! The amount of work that goes into creating the music for a video game is absolutely incredible. I found a new appreciation for these audio engineers for the time they put into these projects. They travel all over the world to get the best sounds for these stories and I think that just that alone can grab anyone's attention. I think this interested me so much due to the fact it connected to the broadcasting major because no matter the show, it will always need a good soundtrack to back it up, and Playstation can definitely do that.
